Doctor’s house “should be bulldozed” for being 5% too big

A doctor has become embroiled in a bitter row with neighbours, who say his new £1m house should be demolished for being 5% too big.

Residents of Willen in Milton Keynes have complained to the council about Manoj Srivastava’s house, claiming it is a “monstrosity” that resembles “a mini-hotel or office building”.

They add that its floor area is 22sqm larger than planned and the room has a 40-degree rather than a 30-degree pitch, effectively making it a three-storey building.

The council has refused to grant retrospective planning permission and have insisted that the building be altered in accordance with the original designs.

The issue will now be decided by the planning inspectorate at a public inquiry in March.
