DOE cancels right of way through Cambridge’s Lion Yard shopping centre

The DOE has agreed to close off a public right of way which runs through Cambridge’s Lion Yard shopping precinct, ten years after the original application was submitted.

Lion Yard’s owners, Barclays de Zoete Wedd (BZW), will now carry out a multi-million pound refurbishment of the centre. The fund will now put up gates at the precinct’s entrances at Petty Cury, the Fisher Hall and St Andrew’s Street.

Although refurbishment plans are at an early stage, BZW is considering a new food court on the second floor. The Fund is also hoping to add more retail space to the same floor.
