Dolphin Living hires Preston as FD

Dolphin Living has hired CLS and Derwent London’s Gary Preston as finance director.

The 800-home affordable housing charity said the appointment added some significant industry muscle as it looks to expand its portfolio.

Preston was previously financial controller at CLS Holdings, where he oversaw the financial management of all aspects of the property investment business.

Prior to CLS he worked at Derwent London for almost 10 years, where he supported the growth of the company from 25 to just over 100 employees and an investment portfolio valued at £4.2bn.

At Dolphin he will provide strategic and financial guidance to support the growth of the organisation and provide more high-quality housing for London’s workers on modest incomes.

Dolphin said Preston’s “experience working with some of the UK’s largest listed companies will be invaluable” as it looks to expand its portfolio, with more than 300 homes in planning or under development.

Chief executive Olivia Harris said: “By adding Gary to our leadership team we are gaining an experienced industry professional and specialist in the real estate sector. Gary has already hit the ground running and it is clear that his guidance and insight will support the team in building upon their excellent work to date.”

Preston added: “Affordability is an issue effecting a huge number of people across the city and Dolphin Living’s work gets right to the heart of the matter. I am delighted to join Dolphin Living to support them in their mission of creating high-quality homes for working Londoners. The company has gone from strength to strength over the last few years and I’m looking forward to working with the team going forwards.”
