Developer Dominvs Group has hired Ian Fergusson from Barton Willmore as its new planning director, as part of the group’s strategy to expand into more asset classes in the next 18 months.
Fergusson was previously an associate at Barton Willmore, where he specialised in residential, mixed-use, co-living and commercial developments.
He has worked on projects including Galliard Homes and Princeton Investments’ planning application for a 250-home, 15-storey co-living scheme, which became the first co-living scheme to be backed by the Mayor of London.
Before working at Barton Willmore, Fergusson spent more than 10 years at planning consultancy Turley.
At Dominvs, Fergusson will be responsible for setting planning strategies, delivering planning application schemes, and identifying new opportunities for growth across the full range of property classes.
Sukhpal Singh Ahluwalia, founder of Dominvs Group, which is privately owned, said Fergusson’s “creativity and experience across the full sweep of the planning process will be critical to our success as we seek to enter the next chapter of our growth story”.
Until now, Dominvs has mainly focused on hotels and residential. Its pipeline includes more than 1,000 homes, ranging from luxury apartments to masterplan developments.
It seeks to diversify its residential offer over the next five years, including expansion into the private residential, co-living, student, retirement and build-to-rent markets around the UK.
The developer aims to do this through partnerships and joint ventures with other developers, investors, and operators.
It has been recruiting extensively to support its growth strategy. Fergusson’s appointment comes after Dominvs hired Ian Trinder from retirement living developer PegasusLife as its new chief financial officer, and Adam Ratzker from Galliard Group as its new commercial director.
