Dong Energy confirms SW1 move

Doughty Hanson and Urban & Civic have confirmed that DONG Energy has taken 81,000 sq ft for a new headquarters at Howick Place , SW1.

The Danish firm will consolidate its existing offices in Trafalgar Square and Grosvenor Place across five floors of the office block.

The agreement marks the largest letting in the Victoria market since Burberry signed for 1 Page Street in 2011, according to Doughty Hanson and U&C, which undertook a reverse takeover of Terrace Hill in April.

No terms were disclosed for the letting but negotiations are understood to have been for a 10-year lease at around £62 per sq ft.

The letting was negotiated by Invesco Real Estate, which took over the asset management of assets within Doughty Hanson’s value-add funds in April 2014.

DONG Energy follows Giorgio Armani in moving its head office to the Rolfe Judd-designed scheme, which includes 143,000 sq ft of commercial space and 23 flats. Armani has occupied the top floor of the building since February 2014.

Doughty Hanson’s Robert Farquharson said: “We are delighted to welcome DONG Energy to the building and look forward to making further announcements on other occupiers in due course.”

Brent Cheshire, UK country chairman of DONG Energy, said: “We are delighted to have leased this new state-of-the art office, which is a reflection of the rapid growth of our business and our commitment to the UK where we have invested over £5bn in the past decade.

“The new office space will give us a great opportunity to bring together all 400 of our London-based staff, with all the benefits that improved collaboration can bring. Securing this accommodation also ensures that we remain in central London, close to our key government and business stakeholders.”
