Investment manager Downing has appointed former M&G director Richard Booth as a fund manager in its capital solutions team.
The team, which was set up earlier this year, will launch a series of new investment activities and funds, deploying capital from institutional investors into opportunities in sectors such as European real estate and healthcare services in the private equity space.
In his new role, Booth will work with Downing’s head of capital solutions Paul Taylor and industry veteran Nick Burley.
Booth previously spent 10 years at M&G working as a fund manager and director focusing on fixed-income opportunities.
During his tenure at M&G, he was instrumental in building a real estate opportunity platform in Dublin, which attracted more than €1bn (£860m) of institutional capital and invested in complex residential and commercial projects. Prior to M&G, Booth spent 10 years at KPMG.
Taylor said: “Richard’s appointment is another important step forward in the establishment of our new capital solutions strategy. His expertise in strategy and investment will further strengthen our capabilities to identify and manage attractive investment opportunities on behalf of institutional investors.”
