DPP Shape to draw up regeneration plans for North Liverpool

  DPP Shape has been appointed by Liverpool Vision and its partners to create a strategic regeneration framework for North Liverpool.   The framework will focus on a wide area of the city, stretching from Liverpool city centre to Bootle, taking in a number of neighbourhoods which have a shared geography of the city’s docklands.   It will focus on some of the UK’s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods, which have been subject to a number of regeneration initiatives in recent years, and will deliver a long-term vision for the area.   DPP Shape has been selected by Liverpool Vision, Liverpool city council, the North West Regional Development Agency, the Homes and Communities Agency, Sefton borough council and the Government Office for the North West.   The urban design and masterplanning practice is a subsidiary of planner DPP.   Local agent Keppie Massie has been appointed to advise on strategic land acquisition.   Shelagh McNerney, managing director at DPP Shape, said: “North Liverpool is one of the most strategically important regeneration areas in the country and we relish the opportunity to work with local partnerships to re-shape regeneration strategies for positive change.”   Jim Gill, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, said: “North Liverpool has deep-rooted problems, but it also has enormous potential on which to build a strong economy and sustainable communities.”   daniel.cunningham@rbi.co.uk
