Drivers Jonas appointed to oversee Southampton Football Club’s development plans

href=”http://www.eginew.co.uk/Articles/ArtIcle.aspx?liArticleid=461628″>Stadium 2000, the group behind Southampton Football Club’s new ground, has appointed Drivers Jonas to oversee development of the complex.

href=”http://www.eginew.co.uk/Articles/ArtIcle.aspx?liArticleid=461628″>Following the go-ahead from Hampshire Council to build the 25,000-seater stadium at the Eastleigh junction of the M27, DJ partner Grahan Fryer is working up a masterplan for the site which will include the football ground, an indoor gymnasium, an athletics track and a basketball arena.

href=”http://www.eginew.co.uk/Articles/ArtIcle.aspx?liArticleid=461628″>”The football stadium itself and the peripheral uses are going to be brought together to make a sporting centre of excellence,” says Fryer. Permission has been given for up to 4.04ha (10 acres) of the 28.32 (70 acre) Stoneham Lane site to be developed.

href=”http://www.eginew.co.uk/Articles/ArtIcle.aspx?liArticleid=461628″>Once a development business plan for the stadia has been approved, the football club will return to the City for further funds to support the scheme.

href=”http://www.eginew.co.uk/Articles/ArtIcle.aspx?liArticleid=461628″>Original proposals for the development gave Southampton FC the platform for its successful float on the stock exchange earlier this week. The club gained plc status following a £10m reverse takeover by sheltered housing developer Secure Retirement.
