Drop in shoppers slows thanks to sunny Easter

The decline in shoppers visiting the high street slowed last month as the sunny Easter weekend gave shops a much-needed boost, according to figures.

High street footfall declined by 1% last month compared with the previous year when it fell by 4%, according to Springboard, a retail analyst.

Footfall at shopping centres dropped by 2.1%, which was an improvement on the 3.1% fall recorded last year.
