A drug kingpin has offered his artificial island in Dubai in a bid to reduce his jail sentence.
Raffaele Imperiale, who was arrested in 2021 after being on the run since 2016, bought the island “Taiwan” in Dubai’s World development seven years ago for $12m. Despite the fact that it has not been built on, he told a court in Naples it is now valued at between $60m and $70m.
While on the run he set himself up as a developer of luxury villas on the islands.
