Supermarket chain Sainsbury’s has hired DSG International’s Philip Bell-Brown as its director of property development.
Bell-Brown will have responsibility for all Sainsbury’s site acquisitions, town planning and property communications. He will start on 21 November and will report into Neil Sachdev, Sainsbury’s property director.
DSGi appointed Bell-Brown group property director in 2007. Prior to DSGi, he was head of property for Halfords, where he was responsible for all property activity, including opening the retailer’s first stores in the Czech Republic. Bell-Brown also worked for Boots, where he held a number of senior positions including head of acquisitions.
Sachdev said: “He has an unrivalled reputation in retail and his experience will be instrumental in helping to deliver our future growth in both food and non-food. I am sure he will have a significant impact in helping to deliver our ambitious targets and in turn creating jobs and opportunities in towns and cities across the UK.”
Bell-Brown added: “Sainsbury’s ambitious expansion plans for the next few years have been well publicised so it is a very exciting time to join.”
