DTZ replaces JLW and Cooke & Arkwright on Cardiff’s Capitol Shopping Centre

DTZ has replaced Jones Lang Wootton and Cooke & Arkwright as agent on Guardian Properties’ Capitol shopping centre in Cardiff in advance of plans to refurbish the 18,500 sq m (200,000 sq ft) scheme.

“The decision was not agency driven,” said David Watt, DTZ’s retail director. ” The reason was strategy-driven as we have also been appointed to formulate a strategy plan to take the centre into the new Millennium.” Two units at the scheme – at the East end of the city’s prime shopping area on Queen Street – are vacant.

Guardian is considering enlarging the Virgin Store by some 650 sq m (7000 sq ft) which anchors the scheme as part of a wider refurbishment programme.

“The centre has considerably strengthened the shopping at the eastern end of Queen Street. We are determined that this position is maintained and enhanced,” said Mark Loveday of Guardian Properties.
