DTZ storms Edinburgh leaderboard

DTZ has stormed up the Edinburgh office agent’s league table nearly quadrupling the amount of space it transacted in the year to the end of February 2014.

The agent found tenants for just shy of 90,000 sq ft in this year’s EGi Offices Research table placing it fourth, up from 10th last year.

Although the number of deals signed by DTZ remained virtually static when compared to 2013, its total was boosted by three large deals, including the 34,000 sq ft letting to JLT at Edinburgh Park.

It’s total was dwarfed, however, by top agent JLL which maintained its number one ranking by disposing of over 400,000 sq ft of office space, up by two thirds on the previous year. JLL acted on almost half the deals in Edinburgh this year, the largest deal of the year, the 84,000 sq ft letting to Sainsbury’s Bank on Edinburgh Park.

Rapley’s single deal catapulted it into the top 10 agents after it let 75,500 sq ft to Grand Theft Auto creator RockStar North.

Overall the Edinburgh office market showed a strong recovery this year with space disposed up by 45% on the same period last year reaching 840,000sqft. Although the average deal size remained virtually identical to last year, agents signed more deal – 173 in total this year.
