DTZ sues for unpaid resort fees

DTZ is suing the developer of a £3.5bn resort in Cape Verde for almost £150,000 in unpaid fees.

In a high court writ, the agent claims that in March last year it agreed to provide advice to Casa Group on the Santiago project.

DTZ claims that Casa agreed to pay it a retainer of £6,000 a month for a site evaluation and development consultancy, and an operator selection fee of £113,850 for the 200-bedroom and 130-bedroom hotels to be built at the resort.

It alleges that, while its first eight invoices were paid, five remain outstanding.

DTZ claims that Casa has not disputed the moneys owed but told the agent “on several occasions that it was experiencing cash flow problems and, therefore, could not pay the outstanding invoices”.

Casa won consent for the 6,600-acre development in January.

Neither Casa nor DTZ would comment.
