The condition of Liberty Hall, a trade union headquarters in Dublin, shows “no one has cared enough” to restore the iconic building, an architect has said.
Liberty Hall, owned by the Services Industrial Professional and Technical Union, was considered technologically innovative at the time of its construction in the 1960s but has fallen into disrepair despite its historical significance as Dublin’s first high-rise building.
Simona Yonkova of Dublin-headquartered Heneghan Peng Architects said the building should be added to the city council’s list of protected structures because it was an important part of Dublin’s cityscape.
