Property and rating consultant Dunlop Heywood has opened its first office in Ireland to take advantage of the first modern rating revaluation in Dublin city.
Dunlop Heywood directors Stuart Hicks and Nigel Davis have joined forces with two Irish property consultants, Tom McNamara and Gary Lawlor, to open Dunlop Heywood (Ireland) in the heart of the city and a regional base in Ennis on the west coast.
The move comes ahead of the first modern rating revaluation in Dublin city. About 25,000 commercial and industrial properties will be included in the review, in which landlords and businesses will be required to send in relevant information to facilitate the revaulation.
Hicks said: “UK businesses have a rating revaluation every five years and so are much more in tune with the process and the possible outcomes. Ireland, in contrast, has never had a modern revaluation and so the need for rating expertise and guidance is crucial from the beginning. There will be winners and losers across the city, but those who take expert advice will be in the best position to see this as a cost saving opportunity rather than a threat.
“As rating and asset management specialists, we see this as an ideal opportunity to launch Dunlop Heywood into the Irish market, where our experience in UK rating revaluations will be a huge advantage. With the added bonus of Gary and Tom’s expertise and local knowledge, we can hit the ground running.”
