Durham student flat scheme approved

Developer Connislow has won consent for more than 200 private flats in the university city of Durham.

Durham county council planning committee has approved Connislow’s plans to build 223 student bedrooms in four blocks on the former Fred Henderson garage on Ainsley Street in Durham.

The accommodation, which will include 90 studio flats, would be marketed at mature, international postgraduate students.

The new homes are set to be managed by Universal Student Living. Building work could begin next year.
