Dutch developer moves in on Victoria Square Belfast

Dutch developer Multi Development Corporation is planning a 52,000 sq m (560,000 sq ft) redevelopment of Victoria Square in Belfast City Centre.

MDC – which has built similar schemes across Europe – is planning a 25,000 sq m (269,000 sq ft) department store on the site off Victoria Street and Ann Street and is targeting international retailers including Jane Norman, Racing Green, Sony, Warner Bros, Lacoste, CK Jeans, Lillywhites and Tower Records. Its plans include licensed and leisure operations, a hotel, and up to 30 luxury apartments.

Nico Veldhuis, MDC managing director, said: “A rejuvenated Victoria Square would bring together once more Belfast’s shopping district with the River Lagan and the developments of the Laganside Corporation. It would provide a much needed link between the city centre, Lanyon Place and Waterfront Hall.”

Donaldsons is advising MDC.
