Dyson told his home improvement plans suck

Sir James Dyson has been told he is no Capability Brown over plans to “improve” his £20m estate.

The vacuum cleaner visionary submitted plans last August to have a waterfall built between two lakes on his 300-acre Dodington Estate, near Bath.

But Historic England has objected. It has pointed out that, when “England’s greatest gardener”, Capability Brown, came to redesign the parkland in the 1760s, he thought the lake so perfect that he left it alone.

At least this time Dyson asked permission first, unlike the time he tried to build a swimming pool in his basement.
