Ealing approves flurry of beds and sheds

Four planning applications proposing 724 homes and 250,000 sq ft industrial space in west London have been given the green light.

The largest will be delivered by Ealing Council through the transformation of the 17.5-acre site currently occupied by Gurnell Leisure Centre. The existing facility will be replaced and enlarged to 102,580 sq ft from 66,090 sq ft, with four blocks of flats constructed on the site, providing 295 homes.

Elsewhere, Tide Developments has been given the go-ahead to build a student accommodation scheme at The Green in Southall. Tide secured planning permission in February last year to deliver 95 flats on the site, but the developer has reshaped the scheme to provide 424 student rooms instead.

Valor has been cleared for its Greenford Industrial Estate site makeover, which is expected to provide three warehouses, measuring a total of 141,728 sq ft. The proposed redevelopment would add almost 35,000 sq ft of facilities.

In contrast, SEGRO is looking to reduce the existing industrial space on its Greenford Central scheme, demolishing four vacant warehouses, totalling 129,382 sq ft, and replacing them with two warehouses  measuring a combined 106,779 sq ft.
