Ealing Council expected to approve applications for 724 homes

Ealing Council’s planning committee has been recommended to give the go-ahead to four separate applications for homes and industrial space in the west London borough.

The proposals tabled for the decision later this week include 724 homes and almost 250,000 sq ft of commercial space.

The major project on the council’s agenda has been brought forward by the council itself, comprising the redevelopment of 17.5-acre Gurnell Leisure Centre site. The existing facility is expected to be replaced and enlarged to 102,580 sq ft from 66,090 sq ft.

The council will also develop four blocks of flats on the site, ranging in high from two to 10 storeys, comprising a total of 295 homes of one, two and three bedrooms.

Elsewhere, Tide Developments is expected to be granted planning permission for a site at The Green in Southall to deliver a 23-storey building providing 424 student rooms, with shared student amenities, cycle parking and public realm.

Tide secured planning permission in February last year to deliver a part 23-storey, part 19-storey and part 14-storey building providing 95 flats.

The updated proposals are expected to help meet a shortage of PBSA in this part of London. About 35% of the proposed rooms would be affordable.

Meanwhile, Valor is awaiting the nod to redevelop and expand its existing site within Greenford Industrial Estate to provide three warehouses, measuring a total of 141,728 sq ft. The proposed turnaround would add almost 35,000 sq ft of facilities.

Separately, SEGRO is looking to gain permission to build two warehouses, measuring a combined 106,779 sq ft, replacing four vacant facilities, totalling 129,382 sq ft, at its Greenford Central scheme. Although the proposed scheme will result in loss of floorspace, the facility is expected to be more attractive to potential occupants.
