Ealing seeks partner for 500-unit Southall site

Ealing Council is searching for a development partner to transform a 5.5-acre site in Southall’s town centre, in collaboration with London-based developers Metropolitan and Suburban.

Called The Green, the site currently comprises a surface car park, light industrial units and other non-residential properties. It is a 300m-walk from Southall Station, which will be a stop on Crossrail’s new Elizabeth Line from 2019.

Located within a GLA housing zone and designated regeneration location, the site sits opposite the grade II listed Southall Manor House. It is anticipated that more than 500 residential units can be delivered along with new public realm and commercial and community space.

A single developer (or consortium) is being sought and proposals should include private as well as affordable housing. The council also requires the re-provision of 90-100 car parking spaces for public use to support local shops and services.

Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: “Ealing Council has a reputation for quality regeneration and we want to speak to partners who can support our vision for this exciting town centre development.”

LB Ealing are advised by Lambert Smith Hampton and Metropolitan & Suburban are advised by Savills.
