Earl could be forced from his castle

The Earl of Macclesfield is facing eviction from his family seat of nearly 300 years, the 14th century Shirburn Castle.

Richard Parker, the ninth earl, is pleading in the High Court this week to be allowed to live at the castle.

The ownership of the castle was handed over in 1922 to Beechwood, a company set up to avoid taxes.

The directors are family members who are in dispute with the earl.
