British Nuclear Fuels yesterday said it was speeding up the closure of its oldest magnox power stations following a fall in power prices.
The Calder Hall reactors in Cumbria will now shut in 2003, three years ahead of schedule, while Chapelcross in Scotland will close in March 2005 instead of 2008.
