The likes of Cambridgeshire and Essex are replacing regions such as Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hampshire as the destinations of choice for those moving out of London in search of affordable homes.
House prices in the east of England are rising the fastest of any in the country, according to Fionnuala Earley of Countrywide, while Your Move says it is the only region not to see prices fall in the last month.
Cambridgeshire has Cambridge and its high-tech businesses, while Essex is benefiting from the construction of the Crossrail link, due to open at the end of 2019.
