Eastern & Oriental has submitted plans for a mixed-use development in the heart of Hammersmith, W6. The Malaysian developer proposes offices and a hotel, along with ground floor retail.
The hotel will offer 288 rooms across 140,500 sq ft in a tower building up to 27 storeys. Eastern & Oriental state the intention is for a “high quality operator” and that discussions “have commenced with operators and will progress post-planning.”
The office element of the scheme will be built across five- and 11-storey buildings, and will total 170,630 sq ft. This is a near complete re-provision of the 170,887 sq ft of office space across the site. The space can be adapted for a range of business requirements, from single occupancy to multiple tenancies (SMEs) per floor, or a major headquarters.
A public bar/restaurant is proposed at the top of the hotel tower, “affording unrivalled views of the river and eastwards to the City”, according to the planning documents.
Eastern & Oriental acquired the 1.2-acre site in January 2015 for £57m. Two existing and connected office buildings on site will make way for the new development. The 11-storey Thames Tower and 15-storey Landmark House, were both constructed during the 1960s.
