easyHotel buys in Birmingham

easyHotel-roomHotel chain easyHotel has announced the conditional acquisition of the 125-year leasehold interest in an office block close to New Street station in Birmingham.

Costs are estimated to be £4.5m for the purchase of 81-91 John Bright Street and its conversion into an 84-bedroom hotel. These costs translate into a total cost per room of £53,600.

The purchase is subject to planning.

The building is 120m from the new entrance of Birmingham’s New Street station, and the hotel is due to open in July 2017.
