FINANCE: A crowdfunding scheme for Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou’s new venture easyProperty has raised £1.4m.
The new online estate agent, launched by easyJet founder Haji-Ioannou and property entrepreneur Rob Ellice, said the figure raised on Crowdcube in two weeks was 42% above its target.
The funding approach allowed 396 parties – including landlords and the general public – to become stakeholders in easyProperty.
Rob Ellice, chief executive of easyProperty, said: “The number of everyday people who want to invest in easyProperty shows just how big a need there is for the property market to evolve. We wanted the opportunity to create landlord and vendor advocates for the online estate agency model and are delighted that the public has taken up ownership in droves.”
