A major new scheme with improved public transport and seven parks has been unveilied for Ebbsfleet Garden City in Kent.
At the heart of the site will be Ebbsfleet Central, a new 430,000 sq ft commercial hub next to Ebbsfleet International Station, connecting residents with central London and Paris.
New pedestrian bridges, an upgraded bus system and walk and cycle ways will connect Swanscombe, Northfleet and Greenhithe with the rest of the Garden City.
The River Thames will be opened up, with new promenade walks giving the public access to the waterfront in the area for the first time in a century.
Michael Cassidy, chairman of the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, said: “The pace of growth in the Garden City over the last 12 months has been impressive with major developers now on site building hundreds of homes.”
There are currently seven developers on site building 860 homes, including Ebbsfleet Green, where Redrow is building 180 new homes, and at Springhead Park where Countryside is building 123 homes.
Keepmoat recently announced plans for a further 700 homes at Northfleet Embankment East, with a planning application expected before the end of the year.
Provision is made in the new plan for the London Paramount resort at Swanscombe and its proposed dedicated access route from the A2.
