EcoWorld dealt a blow by Woking planners

EcoWorld London has seen plans for 929 homes refused by Woking Council’s planning committee.

Proposals comprise five blocks of up to 37 storeys at the former job centre on Goldsworth Road, next to the railway line.

The scheme spans a 2.8-acre site and includes a homeless shelter, commercial floorspace and 48 affordable homes.

Councillors raised concerns over height and density, noting the towers would create loss of light and privacy issues, as well as putting pressure on local GP surgeries.

The committee went against officer recommendations, voting to reject the scheme with five against, three in favour and one abstained vote.
