EDI launches Edinburgh hotel/office plans

EDI Group, the development company owned by Edinburgh council, has lodged detailed applications for a 90-bedroom hotel and 25,000 sq ft office near Edinburgh airport.

Travelodge will operate the hotel, its fourth in the city.

The hotel is due to open late next year at Ratho Park, west of Edinburgh.

The three-storey speculative office scheme forms the second phase of scheme, which already houses a 24,000 sq ft office.

EDI director of property and development John Mark Di Ciacca said: “I am hopeful that we will have enough confidence to commit to the office building.

There are very positive vibes for small office requirement in Edinburgh at the moment, so we think it is the right time to explore this route.”

3D Architects designed both the buildings for EDI. It previously worked with EDI on The Clocktower at South Gyle.
