Plans for Edinburgh’s first concert hall in a century have shrunk, even as the costs have soared.
Revised plans for the “transformational” 1,000 capacity Dunard Centre, next to Nuveen’s St James Quarter, show that the height of the building has dropped by 23ft.
The original proposals, which showed a taller building topped by a ‘celebratory crown’, were opposed by Nuveen Real Estate as it would block views from its 12-storey hotel.
The row has been settled in arbitration, but costs for the Dunard Centre have now risen from £45m to £75m with opening delayed until 2025 at the earliest.
