Mountgrange Capital, the development vehicle set up by Manish Chande and Martin Myers, has been given the final go-ahead for its £300m Caltongate scheme in
The development, which includes a 200,000 sq ft five star hotel, 260,000 sq ft of offices, 60,000 sq ft of retail and leisure and 200 homes, was approved by Scottish ministers, who had the final decision.
This means that Edinburgh Council, which had been tipped to occupy the bulk of the offices at Caltongate, is now free to issue planning permission.
A Scottish Government spokesman said the government had cleared the applications back to the council to determine as Scottish ministers did not consider it necessary to take over the decision-making role from Edinburgh council for the scheme.
The development covers a complex 8.5-acre site within
The council originally gave the plans the green light in March, but had to wait for Scottish ministers to give the scheme permission as part of the usual process.
