Planning officers have recommended that Edinburgh City Council give permission for a £2bn neighbourhood north-east of Ingliston Park and Ride on Eastfield Road.
Known as the West Town Edinburgh, the development is being brought forward by the consortium headed by Drum Property Group, formed in April 2021. It signed a memorandum of understanding with the city council in May last year.
The proposals, featuring 7,000 homes plus 300 student homes alongside primary and secondary schools, were lodged with the council early this year.
On the commercial front, the masterplan features a 300-bedroom hotel, 161,459 sq ft of office space, 216,355 sq ft of retail and restaurant space, 53,820 sq ft of leisure space and 19,913 sq ft of industrial space.
If approved, it is hoped that the first phase of homes and community amenities will be ready in 2026.
