Edinburgh’s Victorian arches get a new lease of life

Waverley-Arches-570pxArtisan Real Estate has secured consent to transform 19 historic archways into a new retail and leisure quarter as part of its £150m Edinburgh New Waverley scheme.

The arches, built in 1875, will become shops and restaurants under the Staran Architects-designed scheme.

Artisan project director Clive Wilding said: “It is an amazing opportunity to open up an historic part of the city that has never been accessible to the public before.” Eric Young & Co and Culverwell are advising on leasing.
