EEDA appoints Steve Cox development chief

The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) has appointed Steve Cox as director general for development.

Cox will focus on encouraging enterprise and innovation and supporting sustainable development, as well as increasing the region’s profile nationally and internationally.

Cox joined the regional development agency in January 2000 as infrastructure and planning adviser.

As head of urban renaissance within EEDA, Cox has driven forward the agency’s urban regeneration agenda, including the launch of the East of England towns and cities action plan which lays down a framework for sustainable development in coastal and market towns, suburban areas, new towns, industrial areas and historic cities.

Before joining EEDA, Cox was key employment sites manager at Hertfordshire council.

Prior to that Cox was senior economic planner at the London Planning Advisory Committee.
