Manchester’s property sector turned out in force for the Estates Gazette Focus reception and North West awards presentation in the city.
More than 80 people packed into Manchester’s Epernay champagne bar to chew the fat with EG‘s regional editorial team and editor Damian Wild, including plenty of big-hitting agents, developers and interested onlookers.
The all important North West awards winners were announced, with Miller and RBS picking up property company of the year for their joint venture partnership on the Omega scheme in Warrington.
Judged by our editorial team, one journalist commented: “It has gone from Omega to Alpha in a year. A string of prelets, some already confirmed, and the Omega North site is suddenly full.”
Indeed, the joint venture, known as Omega Warrington, has secured almost 1.5m sq ft of prelets – a considerable achievement in the present economic climate and making a compelling case for the jv to win the trophy.
The winner of the adviser category of EG’s North West awards is determined by floor space transacted, proportionate to sector, based on EGi data. With the numbers crunched and checked, CBRE was named winner, with Jones Lang LaSalle and DTZ taking second and third spots. CBRE’s numbers were boosted by its involvement in the second-largest office deal in Manchester last year when i2 Office took 22,000 sq ft at 3 Hardman Square, Spinningfields.
John Ogden, managing director of CBRE North West, said: “We are delighted to have won the EG award as the team has worked hard in winning new instructions, increasing our market share across the North West, and we are focused on providing an unparalleled level of service to our clients. This has resulted in CBRE being involved in some of the biggest lettings and acquisitions throughout 2012 and I am delighted the team has been recognised with this award.”
