Some of the industry’s property professionals took to the water last week in L&G’s Oarsome Row Challenge for Watersports-based charity Ahoy Centre.
GVA was the only all-female team to take part in the 8.5-mile row along the Thames, from Chelsea Bridge to Greenwich. The crew, named Maiden Voyagers, completed the row in one hour and 12 minutes, taking fifth place. They smashed their fundraising target to raise £3,325.
BL takes Pride in Meadowhall
To coincide with Pride Month, British Land is illuminating the Meadowhall centre to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Pride Sheffield and kick-start its fundraising activities.
Visible from the M1, Meadowhall’s glazed roofs will be lit with the colours of the LGBT Pride flag each evening ahead of the Sheffield Pride event on 28 July.
Colliers goes the extra miles
A team of more than 40 cyclists from Colliers International rode 250 miles from Castle Park Bristol to Plymouth for charity.
The three-day Colliers SxSW Cycle Challenge was one of the fundraising activities organised by Colliers staff for Cancer Research UK and the North West Children’s Support Group which have raised a total of £15,000.
SEGRO staff turn out for local causes
In June 220 SEGRO employees across Europe took part in the company’s annual “Day of Giving”, spending the day working with selected charities and organisations in the areas where SEGRO operates.
Employees spent the day supporting local communities on projects focused on tackling homelessness and improving employment skills. In total, more than 1,300 hours were donated to volunteering.
Highlights of the day included: in Slough Aspire, employees assisted students from a local school with CV writing and interview skills; and at Acton Homeless Concern in London, SEGRO staff helped with all aspects of running the centre and looking after visitors.
Lockton dodgeball raises £2,800
The Lockton Real Estate & Construction annual charity dodgeball tournament, hosted at Powerleague Shoreditch, London, has raised more than £2,800. Competitors donned fancy dress costumes to help support the firm’s nominated charity, the Alzheimer’s Society. AXA proved to be the best dodgers and were crowned dodgeball winners.
Savills and M&G take armistice ride
Cyclists from Savills and M&G Real Estate donned their lycra to take part in the Armistice Centenary Ride, raising £7,600 for LandAid and Help for Heroes. The three-day challenge from London to Bruges, covering 415km, took place to commemorate the first world war armistice.
Knight Knox completes Mosaic
Knight Knox has completed a six-month mentoring initiative as part of a four-year partnership with the Prince’s Trust.
The aim of the Mosaic mentoring scheme is to bridge the gap between aspirations and attainment. through the engagement of local community role models
The property consultancy connected with schools near its headquarters, sending two teams of employees to Chorlton High School and Moorside High School in Swinton to work with students to boost their confidence and communication skills.
