EG Etc: North West tries – and wins the day

Birkenhead Park FC, Wirral, was the setting for the fiercely challenged annual Tri Region Property Rugby tournament. More than 80 property professionals from the North West, Midlands and Yorkshire took part raising £1,000 for NORFOX,  the property charity which supports children projects across the region. It was the North West’s day, winning both the Rose Bowl and the Cup for the first time. The event was sponsored by Chancerygate, Rapleys, TSG, Paragon, db Symmetry and Chestergate.

Jll-Glasgow-in-article-crop  Way to help

A team from JLL in Glasgow have set themselves the challenge of a highland walk for homeless charity Crisis. The group will tackle the West Highland Way’s 96-mile challenge in just four days, beginning in Milngavie and finishing at Fort William on 22 May. To help the team raise their target of £2,500 go to the team’s Virgin Money Giving page.

The British Council for Offices kicked off its conference in London last week with its 2017 Cycle Sportive. The event comprised a ride from north-west London followed by a festival of cycling at the Lee Valley VeloPark. The event brought together more than 500 people in design, build, ownership, management and occupation of offices in the UK.

Jungle challenge

Simon Blair from commercial property agents SHB10 is taking part in the Hope for Children charity’s jungle ultra-marathon in Peru in June. During the five-day challenge he will run 230km through jungle trails, mountain roads and village tracks, while carrying his own supplies.

Solicitors all at sea

A team of 10 will battle it out against other property-related businesses in the region at the inaugural event on May 26.

Contractor 8build boards the Ark

Ark-Hospice-in-article-cropNorth London’s first children’s hospice, the Ark, has been given a boost by construction company 8build coming on board as the main contractor.

Property names already involved include JLL, Sellar Property Group, Pears Property, RPS, Squire & Partners and Gensler. The companies have contributed pro bono and cost work to the multi-million pound build.

Julian makes it all the way to the top

Julian-Evans-in-article-cropKnight Frank head of healthcare and hotels, Julian Evans, has completed his climb of Mount Everest, summiting the North Col on 26 April, in an expedition led by nine-times Everest summiteer Phurba Wangchhu Sherpa. Nearly £60,000 was raised on the month-long mission, for which Caring Homes Group was lead sponsor. The money raised will go to the Matt Hampson Foundation, which supports individuals suffering from sports-related injuries or disabilities, and premature baby charity Bliss.
