Property specialist SDL Group has pledged to raise more than £100,000 for children’s hospice the Donna Louise in 2018.
The charity provides daily care and support to children and young adults with life-limiting conditions.
SDL Group began its fundraising mission at its annual conference last month. Held at St George’s Park National Football Centre in Staffordshire, more than 300 delegates from across the industry attended.
At the conference a number of SDL Group’s business partners made pledges, which included rounding up invoices, donating 1p for every £100 of income earned, and making a contribution for every new customer secured.
The conference was followed by a black-tie dinner. SDL Auctions’ managing director and auctioneer Andrew Parker held a charity auction which, combined with donations, raised an additional £52,150.
SDL Group also encouraged its guests to sign up to the SDL Tour, a car race through England, Scotland and Wales, which takes place next month. For details, click here.
Cedar Dean Group tackles homelessness
Soho-based property company Cedar Dean Group partnered with Central London homeless charity The Connection for a Valentine’s Day city tour.
Six teams, made up of homeless clients from the charity and volunteers from CDG and The Connection, embarked on a Big Bus Tour of London, highlighting some of the city’s key sites, and a quiz.
Teams were also treated to a hot meal at Great British Fish and Chips, on Westminster Bridge Road, a client of CDG.
The purpose of the day was to help those who had fallen on hard times rediscover their strengths and build confidence in interacting with people in social and professional environments. The Connection helps 4,500 people a year build their lives away from the streets.

Lawyers prove they have the X factor
Three singing commerical lawyers have combined their musical talent to make a charity CD for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
The driving force behind the project is Hull and Beverley-based James Legal Solicitors, where three of the band members, Chris Hutchinson, Gary Swann and Tom Owens, work.
The group released an EP of five tracks last December, one of which was written in memory of Hutchinson’s brother, Damian, who passed away before its release. So far, the EP has raised more £1,000.
The group is now recording an album, to be released at the end of 2018, and will include up to 20 tracks written and performed by the group. All funds raised will go towards research and community health initiatives for cancer patients in Yorkshire.
