EG Etc: Time stands still in Newcastle

Newgate Centre in Newcastle was the burial spot for a time capsule marking the 800-year milestone of mayoralty in Newcastle and the North East. The site is part of a £100m regeneration project in the city, including a hotel, shops, leisure facilities and student housing. The capsule, buried by Newcastle mayor Hazel Stephenson and councillor Ged Bell includes items reflecting different aspects of life in the North East.

JLL staff join Muslim colleagues for Ramadan

JLL UK’s Race for Change network showed its support for their Muslim colleagues during Ramadan by hosting a ‘Fast with us’ event.

More than 40 participants from JLL UK and LaSalle went without food and drink for a day from 2.45am until 6pm.

Following the end of the fast, staff enjoyed a banquet at JLL’s London offices at Warwick Street, Soho, and Bank Street, Canary Wharf.

Innes England has celebrated being named EGi’s most active cgent in the East Midlands for the 10th consecutive year by clocking up 100 miles cycling across the region’s three offices in a day. Representatives from all of the East Midlands offices made up a group of 12, including Tim Garratt, Peter Doleman, Gary Woodward, Ben Taylor, Matt Howson and Paul Rogers.

Designs on new library

Peabody and the Royal Institute of British Architects have launched an international design competition and are inviting architects from across the globe to submit their ideas for a new library building in Southmere Village, Thamesmead, south east London. The new building will be at the heart of the first phase of homes to be built as part of the Abbey Wood and South Thamesmead Housing Zone. Teeing off for Matt Hampson Foundation

Knight Frank putt their support for the Matt Hampson Foundation. More than 40 clients joined the healthcare and hotel teams for a day of golf at the Belfry Hotel, Sutton Coldfield. Supporting the event was former England cricketer James Taylor and former English rugby player and patron of the Matt Hampson Foundation, Mike Tindall. The foundation provides support and treatment for anyone suffering from a serious injury or disability, particularly in sport.

Construction firms boost cancer awareness

Macmillan Cancer Support has joined with construction services company ISG to form Construction Cancer Coalition. Working with firms from the building and construction sector, the initiative aims to raise awareness of cancer, and encourage men within the industry to improve their health and wellbeing. The campaign will also be fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support.

CBRE-iPad-cropMarathon cycle challenge for CBRE

More than 100 CBRE employees, clients, and supporters have finished a five-day cycle challenge for global children’s charity Plan International. The 670km ride began at Basel, Switzerland, and included the mammoth Stelvio Pass Mountain, before finishing in Lake Como, Italy. The ride was in aid of the charity’s safer cities programme in Nairobi. The aim of the project is to make safer areas for girls and women.
