The US giants’ grip on the UK agency market is being challenged by agents grabbing market share through consolidation. JLL and CBRE’s previously undisputed lead in EGi’s deals competition has been chipped away with both losing market share last year as LSH gained on the leaders.
LSH stole the industrial crown from JLL and in overall lettings ended 2014 just 123 deals behind CBRE. LSH was also the king of the regions, topping the tables in three markets including Northern Ireland where its acquisition of BTW Shiells in June boosted it to the top. Its proposed takeover of ES group will further boost its position.
Overall, JLL retained its crown as the UK’s top agent for a fourth year running extending last year’s lead on CBRE. At 2,143 the number of deals signed by JLL in 2014 was 8% higher than the mighty green giant, compared to just a 1% difference in 2013, according to the 2014 deals competition.
Christie + Co grabbed the most gongs, winning eight out of 12 hotel and leisure categories.
