EGPropertyLink makes major investment for growth

EGPropertyLink, the countrys leading commercial property listings service, has announced a major investment which will quickly enable it to become the standard for internet marketing of commercial buildings.

The announcement reads as follows:

EGPropertyLink is proceeding in consultation with five leading surveyors, CB Hillier Parker, Chesterton, DTZ Debenham Tie Leung, Insignia Richard Ellis and Jones Lang LaSalle plus property development firm London & Regional Properties. These companies jointly own EGPropertyLink with Reed Business Information

The five surveyors have extensive office networks in both the UK and continental Europe.

RBI is the parent company of Estates Gazette, the countrys leading property magazine and EGi, the award-winning electronic service for surveyors.

EGPropertyLink will be hiring an additional 30 staff immediately, to develop its vision of fully self-generated listings for the entire UK commercial property market. The company will then begin work immediately on plans to roll the successful format out across Continental Europe.

Peter Mantle, managing director of Jones Lang LaSalles English business said: “We are excited to be playing a key role in this initiative. We are eager to rapidly build on EGPropertyLinks market leadership in the UK and to extend that position to achieve equal success across Europe, especially given our powerful position in major European markets.”

An extensive software upgrade is currently underway and a new marketing campaign has been launched in time for MIPIM, the worlds most important real estate show in Cannes in March.

EGPropertyLink is already the market leader in the UK with 8,000 properties listed and a range of services including and email alerts for properties just posted onto the database. The service is accessible both through the internet and through the internet desktop of over 6,000 EGi subscribers where it will be tightly integrated with many other property-related information services.

“As the leading player in the UK listings market, with an established client base and proven technology EGPropertyLink is best placed to initiate the development of a leading European service,” said Jim Muttram, EGi electronic publishing director.

“EGPropertylink is showing fantastic growth at the moment”, said Muttram. “The number of registered users is up 50% on last month, with the number of page impressions up 143%, and 750% on last year! Unlike the residential property listing market, which is very fragmented, the commercial property industry really seems to have recognised the value of one consolidated site. Agents in the UK have been very supportive of EGPropertylink.”

Michael Holmes, Chief Executive of Chesterton International plc is excited about the prospects: “It is clear that our clients expect us to fully exploit the opportunities the internet can deliver. EGPropertylink allows ALL practices within the UK to market property to a wide audience for what amounts to a few pennies. The real interest will be in watching the marketing people find innovative ways of using the site.”
