Electronic Boutique plans a digital high-street

Games retailer Electronic Boutique is planning an aggressiveexpansion programme across the country’s high streets.

John Steinbrecher, chief executive, sees scope for more than 200 high street and mall stores in Britain. The group increased the number from 114 to 145 in the past year. This year, the company plans to open about 30 stores and in-store concessions.

The games group disclosed a rise in pre-tax profits from£500,000 to £8m in the year to the end of January, on sales up68% at £124m.
