Electronics company Alba opts for Barnsley distribution centre

Consumer electronics company Alba is to open a distribution centre at St Paul’s Developments’ Cortonwood Business Park near Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

Alba is thought to be paying around £6m for the 142,000 sq ft (13,200 sq m) warehouse, which is set for completion in July 2003.

The building, including which includes 1,000 sq ft (93 sq m) of offices, will be Alba’s biggest distribution hub in the UK.

St Paul’s director Mel Burrell said: “Inward investment decisions of this status and magnitude show just how far SouthYorkshire, and the Dearne Valley in particular, has come in recent years.

“It also clearly highlights the potential the region has for a great deal more growth.”

Situated on the M1/A1(M) Link Road, Cortonwood Business Park is a 33-acre (13ha) site within a 180-acre (73ha) mixed-use scheme by St Paul’s Developments.
