Ellandi appointed to manage AIMco’s Barnet centre

Canadian institutional fund manager Alberta Investment Management Corporation has appointed Ellandi as the new asset manager for its Spires Shopping Centre, in Barnet.

Ellandi has replaced Hunter Real Estate Investment Managers as the manager of AIMco’s 33-unit centre, following a business review.

The centre comprises more than 115,000 sq ft of retail space, anchored by H&M and Waitrose. The line-up also includes JD Sports, Carluccio’s, Waterstones, Savers and Anytime Fitness, plus local independents such as Coffee Bean, Orchid Retreat and Pinks Florists.

It has been a local landmark since May 1989, with a major reconfiguration and modernisation completed in 2017.

Mark Hurst, asset management director at Ellandi, said it is “working with all stakeholders on delivering on the asset’s obvious potential”.

“The two malls and open courtyards have recently been refurbished and present a great opportunity to build on the introduction of JD Sports earlier this year,” he said.
