Ellesmere Port Market upgrade gets green light

Plans to improve and future proof Ellesmere Port Market can progress following planning approval this week.

The market transformation is part of a £13m project using funding from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities’ Levelling Up Fund.

The application is for the refurbishment of the existing market and a change of use of the flea market, which will be developed into a flexible event space with pop-up bar facilities. PV panels and mechanical ventilation equipment will be installed to improve energy efficiency.

The project will help prepare the area for low-carbon town centre housing around Coronation Road and create a new walking and cycling route.

Avison Young advised on the planning application.
