Empty Cambridgeshire car park cost £1m

A Cambridgeshire car park that cost £1m to develop has been used by just three vehicles in the week after it opened.

After almost two decades of planning and construction, the 112-space car park at Manea railway station in Fenland, Cambridgeshire, cost £986,000 and was funded out of a £9.5m pot from the Cambridge & Peterborough Combined Authority.

In its first three days, just one car was parked there.

The prospect of the car park opening had been hailed as “an exciting time for the local community” by local councillors.
