Enterprise Inns had approached Inn Business with a view to making an offer for the pub chain.
Enterprise has 1,800 outlets with ambitions to grow to 2,500.
Inn Business is reported to have 448, 470 and 490 pubs, depending on which newspaper you read. It has a 25% stake in Scorpio Inns which has a further 111 tenancies. It also owns Hooden Horse with 20 outlets. Inn Business said it would consider any offer against its other options.
