Environment Secretary John Gummer has called in a planning application for a micro-electronics plant on the 55ha (136 acre) Peddimore site at Minworth in the West Midlands.
In announcing the decision, Gummer said: “This is a major proposal for the West Midlands. It gives rise to issues of great importance both for the economy of the region and for the protection of amenity in the Green Belt.”
He promised that a planning inquiry will take place as soon as possible. West Midlands: Fowler attacks choice of green belt sites.
